Throughout the Livestock Festival cowboy poets and musicians will entertain festival patrons with lively music and prose. Cowboy poetry is a form of poetry which grew out of a tradition carried on by workers on cattle drives and ranches. After a day of work, cowboys would gather around a campfire and entertain one another with tall tales and folk songs. The tradition lives on through festivals and gatherings throughout the West, including the Cedar City Livestock & Heritage Festival. Performers will be on stage in the indoor Diamond Z Arena for both days of the festival, a schedule of performers will be posted on this site soon. Please check back.

Interested in the Old West? The Frontier Homestead State Park Museum will offer a variety of hands-on activities at the annual Cedar City Livestock Festival. You can learn to rope a cow, but first try your hand at making your own rope using an old-fashioned rope jack. Tired of video games? Master the classic games of marbles and double ball. And kids (as well as kids at heart) can build their own frontier cabin using Lincoln logs. The Frontier Homestead State Park Museum helps bring history to life.
