Dutch Oven Cook-off

When: Saturday.   Cooking and set up starts at 7 a.m. Tasting begins at 12:30 p.m.
Where: Cross Hollows Events Center, Diamond Z Arena
Why: Dutch Oven cooking is a time honored tradition. Southern Utah was settled by pioneers cooking from a cast iron pot. Dutch Oven cooking remains a coveted skill and enjoyable pastime. Over 30 different awards and more than $2,000 in cash prizes! Gather a group of friends, family or club to compete in the Dutch Oven Cook-off!

Dutch Oven Competition: Only 6 teams are allowed to compete on a first come, first served basis for 2017! All categories must be served and each team given $500.00 participation award upon completion of event. Each category will have a separate tasting and will be judged by the public. There will be prizes in each category. The categories include: Main Dish, Side Dish, Bread/ Rolls, and Dessert. Public Tasting: You be the Judge! Taste over 30 different Dutch Oven dishes when you participate in the Public Tasting . The cost is just $5.00, which includes a tasting packet and tickets to use as voting ballots to choose this year’s winners. In 2 hours, you’ll taste hearty main dishes, succulent side dishes, savory breads and delectable desserts. Also, you’ll learn more about Dutch Oven cooking, including the history, clean and care instructions and pick up a few more recipes. Buy your tickets as early as 11 am that day and tasting begins a 12:30 pm and ends at 2:30 pm. Awards start at 3:30 pm. Dutch Oven cooking- it’s a Tradition!
